Sand Boarding: Your Chance to Make History and Enjoy Nature at its Best!
Now that winter is giving way to spring, it is time to think about planning outdoor activities. If you are tired of the same old check list of activities, Florence, Oregon has an option you may never even have heard about! It’s a sand board park! In fact, it is the world’s first sand board park!
Since we are talking firsts here, it might be good to explain what people do in a sand board park. Imagine a 40 acre park right inside the city limits. Now think sand. Lots of sand! Now think about the winds off the Pacific Ocean blowing that sand, sculpting never ending patterns and shapes. Now merge your memories of snowboarding with skateboarding and you can begin to imagine the possibilities. Put it all together and you get Sand Master Park.
There you are in the sand on a sunny Oregon Coast day! You have your board in hand. You climb to the top of a dune, steel your resolve and mount the board like a Viking aboard his ship. Now, underway, you rapidly descend the dune, swiftly turning and pivoting to find air beneath your board. You land with a huge sense of satisfaction that you have mastered nature itself!
Best of all, you have the chance to learn the craft before it becomes the national sport! Imagine being able to go back in time and learning to hurl a Frisbee before it became a standard for puppy training. In a sense you can! There are four major events coming in the next few months and with dedicated training, you can be the one the crowd cheers at the end of the day!
If you need some diversions to help you overcome the exhaustion of hard training, Sand Master Park offers you a little rest and recreation between your downhill adventures. There is a pool table, foosball, ping pong, a gym and plenty of tunes to brighten your day and intensify your workout!
Outside, you will find a number of gardens, planted displays and a humongous sandbox that is perfect for play or serious sculpting. If you are just too exhausted from your boarding to take another step forward, have no fear, there are dune buggy tours offered that cater to both families and extreme sporters.
Since this is a relatively new sport, the folks at Sand Master Park know that you will probably need to rent some quality equipment like sand boards, sand sleds, skim boards and boogie boards. They offer lessons as well as providing you with a full service pro shop that has a full selection of the outstanding equipment you learned to master at the park.
Now since becoming the Babe Ruth of sand boarding might take most people more than an afternoon, so the folks at Sand Master Park have you covered. There is an RV Park and camp sites to allow you to nurse those tired muscles at the end of the day. The park has great operating hours too!
So there you have it, Sand Master Park awaits and your future as a sand board pro is just countless hours of practice away!
