Florence is a great Oregon coastal town and the fall is an amazing time to enjoy what is happening in Florence. Here are some things going on in and around Florence in October including some great Halloween fun:
October 1- 11 a.m to 8p.m.
Taking place in the Florence Events Center this traditional celebration of German culture will keep you entertained. Enjoy live music and performances from the Scandia Dancers, Tyrollean Dancers, Alpine Echoes Band, and Sam’s Polka Gems. There will be plenty of food vendors to enjoy great eats. You won’t want to miss the Oregon Coast Championship Wiener Dog Races at 3pm. A traditional happy hour will take place from 4 to 5. The night will be wrapped up by the T Club Band from 5:30 to 8pm.
Cost: $7 at the door for a full event pass.
6th Annual Chowder Fest and Wine Walk/ The Great Glass Float Giveaway
Saturday October 8 from 2 to 5pm is the Wine Walk. Stroll down Bay Street and sample wines from all over Oregon. Purchase a punch card for the tasting and get two commemorative glasses to sample your wine in.
Sunday October 9 from noon to 4 is the Chowder Fest. $5 buys you a punch card to taste each chowder in the cook off and a scorecard and ballot to cast your vote for the best chowder on the coast.
Both Saturday and Sunday enjoy live music at Gazebo Park. Don’t forget to search for the famous and beautiful glass floats hidden around Historic Old Town thorough-out the shops. Spot Columbus or Queen Isabella on Bay Street and take home a valuable wooden doubloon.
Jazz Kings Concert
Jesse Cloninger and the Jazz Kings open the season with songs of Duke Ellington’s early career including the Washingtonian years during the mid-‘20s and his growing fame at the Cotton Club during the depression and World War II.
Cost: Tickets are $25 available online through the Florence Events Center.
Bras For a Cause
The first event of its kind sponsored by Soroptimist Int’l of Florence. Event begins at 6 with open bar, music and entertainment and Silent Auction before dinner. Creatively decorated bras will be on display and then be part of a live auction following dinner. Proceeds will help to fund scholarships and other club activities including human trafficking awareness and Dream It, Be It.
Cost: $50 per ticket , table sponsorships are also available that include tickets
Comedian Dave Coulier
October 22- 7pm
You may know Dave as Uncle Joey from Full House. Come see this funny many live at the Three Rivers Casino.
Cost: $19.99 to $24.99
Chad and Jeremy in Concert
October 29- 7pm
This famous duo is known for their Top 40 hits including “Summer Song,” “Yesterday’s Gone,” “Willow Weep for Me,” and “Distant Shores.” The duo has also appeared in TV shows including the Dick Van Dyke Show, Patty Duke Show, and Batman. Concert will take place at the events center.
Cost: tickets are $25
Come enjoy a game or two of Bingo in the event hall at the casino. Players in costume will receive $5 in free play.
Scare–C.R.O.W. Haunted Maze
October 30th and 31st- 5-8pm
An indoor maze full of scary haunts and actors dressed up to spook you. This is meant to be frightful fun and bringing children should be done with care. The maze is put on by the C.R.O.W. Theater and they recommend an age limit of 8 with a disclaimer of “enter at your own risk.”
Cost: tickets are $5 at the door, cash only, proceeds benefit the children’s theatre
