Heceta Head Lighthouse – Come see this beautiful, remote and renovated lighthouse in Florence! It’s a great place for whale watching and after visiting the light house, you can hike through the woods on Hobbit Trail on down to the ocean.
Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park – About half way up the Oregon coast and three miles south of Florence on scenic Highway 101 sits the second largest overnight camp in the state. There are two miles of sand dunes between the park and the ocean. Two natural freshwater lakes are within the park. Cleawox, a great lake for swimming, and Woahink, which has a public boat ramp, is used for all water sports. Rent a canoe and explore the lake. This camp is great for every season of the year!
South Jetty County Park – This is one of the best kept secrets of Florence. You can have a beach fire, play on the beach, or jump in the waves. There’s so much to do! You can also walk on the jetty pretty far. Sometimes dolphins can be spotted playing near the very end.
Sea Lion Caves – Considered the largest sea cave in the United States, this site is where Steller sea lions and their cubs take shelter each year. The Sea Lion Caves is a privately owned wildlife preserve and bird sanctuary. The Caves have been in operation since 1932 preserving and protecting the wildlife. We are open 363 days a year only closed on Christmas and Thanksgiving day. Normal hours of operation are 9 am until dark year round.
John Dellenback Dunes Trail – A long but totally worth it trail to some amazing dunes! Take lots of water!
