Autumn Events and Activities on the Oregon Coast
The Oregon Coast is a great place to visit, be and live in the Autumn months. There’s so much to do and explore all while taking in its legendary breathtaking beauty that comes with the season. For Fall Frolics to add to your list, check out these ideas:
1) Peruse the fall foliage in the area. Did you know that the Oregon Coast is known for its vibrant and fiery colors, the forefront of its famed evergreens? It’s true! In 2012, Fodor’s ten Great Fall Foliage Trips Across the Country included the Willamette Valley on its list. The University of Oregon Campus itself is an arboretum with over 500 types of trees.
An interesting way to experience the glory of Oregon’s fall foliage is to climb up 200 ft on a guided tree climbing expedition. Imagine, being right in the tree canopy itself! You can also always hike, boat down the river, or horseback ride to taken in the leaves! It’s up to you! Typically, leaves peak in mid October.
2)Chowder Cookoff on November 9-10 is a good option to warm up on a brisk fall day. Enjoy Oregon’s coastal comfort food prepared by amazing chefs in the North West. There will also be local beers, wines, face painting and live music.
3) Yachats Celtic Music Festival is an annual festivity since 2001. This year it happens on November 8-10. Come enjoy lively foot tapping music, humor, food and dancers in Yachats on the Oregon Coast!
4) Turkey Trot at the Zoo is held on Thanksgiving Day. It’s a four mile run/walk through the zoo and Washington Park. Zoo admission is included in the registration fee.
Other exciting opportunities available along the Oregon Coast in the fall are:
-browsing the calendar for indoor yard sales or gun shows,
-geocache from the Oregon Coast to the Cascades,
-sharpen your boarding skills while you wait for the first snow at Florence’s Sand Dunes
